Burton Mill, Petworth, West Sussex
The present Mill building dates from around 1780, although mills and forges have exploited the spring water from the Downs for at least 800 years.
The mill has been restored to working order using traditional water-powered milling machinery.
We are now regularly milling wholemeal and white bread flour from locally grown wheat. 1.5kg bags are available from all our local village shops – See Contacts for a list of stockists.
Covid-19 has dramatically increased demand for our flour while reducing the availability of grain supplies. We are trying to keep the shops stocked but there are times when we are unable to match demand.
